Worried it’s a scam? Stop, check, call.
Someone calls, texts or knocks and wants money, a code or your details? Even if they say they are your bank, the police, HMRC or a delivery firm:
- Stop. Hang up or shut the door. A real bank or the police will never mind you checking.
- Check. Your bank will never ask you to move money to a “safe account”, tell them your PIN or a code, or send a courier for your card.
- Call. Ring 159 to reach your bank safely. Use a different phone, or wait five minutes first, as scammers can keep the line open.
